Nitinol requires treatment to maintain its temperature-dependent properties and surface treatment for medical applications. When inadequately processed, significant cost, wear, or irreversible damage to the device may occur. With more than 20 years of experience in processing wire-based nitinol, we target both – cost-effective processing and unleashing the unique mechanical properties of nitinol.
Alleima has developed a series of advanced process steps as well as finding the right process for the product.
Grinding
Fine finishing for accurate dimensions
- Centerless and profile grinding including profile etching
- Partial grinding of a wire made of nitinol gives additional flexibility
Braiding
Adding flexibility and strength
- Braiding offers fast and economic processes
- Braids made of nitinol are particularly flexible and durable (12, 24, 48 wires)
- Have advantages over laser-cut shapes
Shaping
Creating the customized shapes
- Shape setting is suitable for complex geometries
- Nitinol wire is a perfect material for shape setting
Joining
A mechanical bond between nitinol and other materials is usually the best way to resist large forces. But there are also alternatives.
Assembling (incl. Cleanroom)
Specialized assembly of customized projects within our in-house cleanroom facilities (class 7 & 8) ensures adherence to the highest precision and quality standards.
