IVL - Swedish Environmental Research Institute

To provide reliable and solid LCA data, the Alleima LCA model has been reviewed by IVL – Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL), which has long experience and a high level of competence within this field. IVL has also supported in the development of the data management and the development of the model as such. Read more on ivl.se

The advantages of LCA

1. Identifying hotspots

Identifying hotspots within a product life cycle allows for improvements, leading to a reduced environmental impact

2. Resource preservation

Identifying opportunities for resource preservation by opimizing use of resources, and identifying alternative materials that may be more sustainable

3. Costs savings

Potential cost savings by identifying and implementing more efficient processes

4. Competetive advantages

Sustainability and transparency strenghtens relations with stakeholders. Helping customers reaching their climate targets

Alleima is dedicated to transparency and actively reports its LCA results and sustainability efforts to strengthen trust among customers and stakeholders. By collaborating with customers and implementing sustainable solutions, we contribute to make greener choices for the industry.

We use production data from our own operations and supplier data for the raw materials that we purchase, wherever possible. This ensures a reliable and transparent analysis, while simultaneously reducing the carbon footprint of our products.

What is Life Cycle Assessment?

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a method for quantifying the environmental impact of products and identifying hotspots throughout the life cycle.

This includes all stages – from raw material extraction to product commercialization.

It is a globally accepted framework and methodology for quantification
of carbon footprints.

Cradle-to-gate

Our focus is calculating the carbon footprint per product, over a Cradle-to-Gate lifecycle.

The carbon footprint is calculated over the Cradle-to-Gate lifecycle, covering the greenhouse gas emissions from raw material extraction, materials processing and product manufacturing. The Cradle-to-Gate approach enables customers of Alleima to make conscious decisions and to calculate their products' carbon footprint. By providing this information, we are supporting customers to reach their environmental targets.

LCA on Rock Drill Steel products

Read about our implementation of LCA on our Rock Drill Steel (RDS) products as part of our complete commitment to the green transition within the mining industry.

LCA on Solid Bar products

We share product-specific and reviewed carbon footprint data on our manufactured solid bar products, like the Sanmac 316L.
