Alleima’s Kanthal division and Danieli will supply a pilot-scale electric process gas heater to be installed at Emsteel’s Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plant in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to electrify a part of their existing heating system. The heater is based on Prothal® DH technology and will be the first electric process gas heater for DRI that Kanthal supplies for commercial use - an important step in the ongoing development project. Delivery is planned for the beginning of 2026.

Opportunities and challenges in comparing life cycle assessments (LCA) and how electric process gas heaters enable fossil-free DRI. These were the two topics Alleima and Kanthal presented at The Green Steel World Conference and Hydrogen Tech World Expo & Conference in Dusseldorf on May 13 – 14. The event brought together experts and decision-makers to discuss the latest developments in the companies and the decarbonization of the industry.

On November 5, 2025, Alleima will host a Capital Markets Day at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. The event will be hosted in the afternoon starting at approximately 1.00 pm CET.

Thermal spraying is an advanced manufacturing method in which material in powder or wire form is melted and sprayed onto a surface to create a coating with specific properties. Alleima is now investing in this technology to develop new products in the field of sustainable energy. For example, the technology can be used in the production of components for green hydrogen through electrolyzers. Alleima is already in dialogue with several interested customers, and the first prototype of the coated material has already been sent to a customer.

At Alleima's Annual General Meeting in Sandviken, the Innovation Prize 2025 was awarded to Thomas Froböse, Chief Technology Officer, and Haydn Eagle, Sales Manager, both from business unit Specialized in the Tube division. They received the prize for their exceptional contribution to a critical component in the steering module of a space application. The component for a rocket exemplifies outstanding innovation and engineering excellence as the material had to withstand very high temperatures in combination with high pressure.

Organic growth and positive EBIT margin development

Johanna Kreft, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Alleima, has decided to leave the company for a corresponding position at Sandvik. She has been in her current position and a member of the Group Executive Management since 2015 and will leave Alleima no later than October 8, 2025.

Chief Financial Officer Olof Bengtsson has informed the company that he will retire from his position as of August 31, 2025. Johan Eriksson, currently Head of Group Business Control at Alleima, will succeed Olof Bengtsson as Chief Financial Officer as of September 1, 2025.

Per Eklund, currently Vice President and Head of Marketing and Sales for the Alleima Strip division, has been appointed President for the Strip division and member of the Group Executive Management for Alleima. The special steel company Alleima plays a key role as the Vasa Museum faces its biggest challenge since the salvage. With the wood weakened, the ship needs a new support. Several years of research and advanced testing at the museum have led to a unique collaboration with Alleima to develop an internal, custom-made steel skeleton to support and stabilize the ship. The collaboration entails that Alleima becomes the main partner of the Vasa Museum and the "Support Vasa" project.

Korean energy giant Doosan Fuel Cell, a leading global player in the field of hydrogen energy, is targeting both maritime and stationary applications for its fuel cells. Mass production of SOFC will start in 2025 at a new production plant in Korea. Alleima will supply Sanergy™ HT pre-coated material for the interconnects, a key component in the stationary fuel cell.

End-user of the steam generator tubes is NuScale Power a provider of proprietary and innovative advanced nuclear Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, the first and only SMR to have its design certified by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This is Alleima’s second order from the nuclear fabricator Doosan Enerbility for NuScale Power’s SMRs.

Alleima will supply Preem with heat exchanger tubes to be used in the conversion of the Lysekil refinery from fossil to renewable fuels. The investment is an important part of Sweden's green energy transition and will make Preem the largest producer of renewable jet fuel in northern Europe.

In order to ensure long term increase of power supply to Sandviken Industrial Park and implement the company's sustainability plans, Alleima is investing in an equipment that will improve power quality and increase energy efficiency.
